Your Role as a School-Based OT
As a School-Based Occupational Therapist, youll work directly with students to enhance their ability to participate in school routines and learning activities. Your responsibilities will include assessing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care independence; designing treatment plans; supporting students within classroom settings; and collaborating with teachers, staff, and families. Your work makes it possible for students with developmental or physical challenges to achieve success across multiple domains.
Maryland State Requirements
To practice as a school-based Occupational Therapist in Maryland, you must:

Hold a current OT license through the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice

Be registered with the NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy)

Possess a degree from an accredited occupational therapy program and have completed required fieldwork

Pass a state/federal background check and meet Harford County Public Schools credentialing requirements
